Classes

Wednesday to  Saturday, classes and studio sessions are in progress in our Mordialloc studio. People from all walks of life “play around” in warm glass producing an astonishing range of art-glass pieces- jewellery, bowls, platters and sculptures- which keep the kilns operating 7 days a week.

Warm glass is a technique where cut glass is arranged and layered and while cold placed in a kiln which is then fired to melt and form a new shape, with different colours and textures achieved by a variety of relatively simple techniques.

Students at Blue Dog Glass find that at the end of their first 3 hour session, they have prepared one or more pieces which, once fired and shaped can be presented to friends and relatives- ‘Look at this glass masterpiece I have made!’ Students find they enjoy the atmosphere at Blue Dog Glass and keep coming year after year to learn new skills or to contribute to a thriving give-and-take of ideas and creativity.

Cancellations & transfers policies

At Blue Dog Studios we strive to bring our students a wide variety of classes, so considerable time and effort goes into making them available. However, we also understand cancellations sometimes occur. In order to keep class costs low for all, we make no exceptions to the following policies:

If Blue Dog Studios cancels: We reserve the right to cancel any scheduled course. Whenever possible, cancellations are made at least one week prior to the beginning of class. All classes are subject to sufficient enrolment and in the unlikely event that we cancel a class due to low enrolment, those who have enrolled will receive a full refund. If a class is cancelled, Blue Dog Studios is not responsible for reimbursing travel costs or other associated fees.

If you cancel or transfer: Our standard class fees include a $25 non-refundable, non-transferable administration fee, which is forfeited if a student cancels their enrolment or transfers to another class session. Students who cancel or transfer their enrolment six or more business days prior to the beginning of a class will receive a refund of the class fee, minus the $25 administration fee. Cancellations made fewer than six business days prior to commencement of class will be refunded or transferred only if we are able to fill the student’s space (minus the $25 administration fee).

Glassblowing courses: Full payment is required to confirm a place in our glassblowing courses. Due to the nature and expense of the facilities required for these classes no refund will be given for cancellations received less than six business days before class commences unless the vacancy is filled. If the place is filled, a $50 administration fee will be charged and the remaining course fee refunded.

Master Classes: A substantial investment of time and effort goes into organising our masterclass workshops and vacancies can be hard to fill at short notice. Cancellations received less than 45 days, but more than 21 days, prior to the start of the workshop will receive a refund of 75% of the course fees paid. No refund will be given for cancellations received less than 21 days prior to the start of the workshop unless the vacancy is filled. If the place is filled, a $100 administration fee will be charged and the remaining course fees refunded.
