Garden glass: the art of decorating outdoors

Course Outline

Students will have the opportunity in this workshop to create unique pieces of work to use in an outdoor setting. You can elect to make sculptural and decorative items such as glass flowers, signs for herbs, small sculptures or panels to place on walls.  The emphasis of the workshop will be on design and basic kiln forming techniques.  Students will be taught how to cut and prepare glass for firing, how to incorporate elements such as stakes and stands to support work and fusing techniques. Students are required to supply glass for this workshop. This class is suitable for beginners.

cutting glass, preparing glass for the kiln, how fused glass works, considerations for mounting glass in stands or stakes

Please bring the following to class:
please bring: suitable clothing, including long pants and covered shoes. Dust mask. Safety glasses. Pen and paper. permanent marker. Windex and paper towel. Bullseye Glass for projects, this is available from Blue Dog Glass, approx cost $80+. Glass cutter and any glass hand tools you own
