Glass blowing Level 2; continuing the hot glass journey

For: Students who have completed level 1 glass blowing
Tutor: Miles Johnson and Patrick Wong

Course Outline

Continue to consolidate your blowing skills and explore creating some more adventurous vessels or sculptures of your design. Students will be guided by Patrick Wong and Miles Johnson through some extended techniques and will revisit the basics to ensure students feel confident in the hot shop. All materials are included in the class fee. Students must be 15yrs plus and able bodied. Students must have completed level 1 to enrol in this class.

 


Please note: Full payment is required to confirm a place in our glassblowing courses. No refund will be given for cancellations or transfers received less than six business days before class commences unless the vacancy is filled. If the place is filled, a $50 administration fee will be charged and the remaining course fee refunded.

Safety and correct studio practice; Introduction to tools and equipment; Introduction to the furnace and gathering molten glass; safe handling of glass; Introduction of solid working techniques (paperweights and other forms); Introduction to blowing bubbles in glass; Development and techniques to manipulate the bubble; Introduction to vessel making; Introduction to colour into glass

Class Materials

Please bring the following to class:
Safety glasses, long pants, closed toed and heeled shoes, natural fibre clothing, long hair tied back, lunch and bottled water
