Mould Making for Slumping

Course Outline

Learn how to make simple and effective slump moulds for fused glass. Create shapes that are unique and reusable in fired clay, fibre and Ceramaguard. We will guide you through modeling and firing clay to produce moulds that give your work a new dimension and allow you to produce glass that is truly unique. These moulds can be used repetitively and can be used for slumping, cabochon shapes and simple open face casting. Students will make 3 moulds to take home and learn how to make countless more. All materials included, suitable for beginners.

Modelling clay, firing schedules for clay, working with firbre and ridgidizer, carving ceramaguard and making drop out moulds. OH & S

Class Materials

Please bring the following to class:
• Dust mask • Safety glasses • Suitable working clothing (including closed shoes, long pants and an apron for over shirt) • Pencil and paper • Stanely knife or scalpel • Latex gloves • Digital camera is useful
