About Gerry
I decided to be an artist while in primary school, it seemed as good a preoccupation as any. Painting, drawing and printmaking gave way to three dimensional works while an undergraduate student ensconced in clay.
After a decade in ceramics I moved to glass in the early 1970’s while undertaking a Masters’ Degree at Alfred University, (USA). Further study resulted in a doctorate from the University of Wollongong in 1993.
While these works are clearly derived from elements of landscape it is the colour and form that drives me more than the actual subject matter. They toy with the edge of realism and of course returned me to two dimensional works.
