In this two-day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn various techniques for incorporating text into fused glass creations. Students will make several test tiles that will serve as a fantastic resource for future projects. Along with the tests participants will make 2 small, finished plates or tiles approx. 25 x 25cm
The following techniques will be introduced during the class:
Screen Printing: Participants will learn how to use screen printing techniques to transfer text onto glass surfaces. This method allows for precise and detailed text designs.
Powder Printing: This technique involves applying powdered glass to sheet glass. Participants will learn how to manipulate the powder and achieve desired text effects
Printing from a Computer: Students will be introduced to the process of printing text designs directly from a computer onto glass surfaces. This method offers flexibility and the ability to experiment with various fonts and sizes.
Copper Inclusions: Participants will explore the use of copper inclusions to incorporate text into their glass creations. Copper can create interesting visual effects and add depth to the text designs.
Using Glass Enamels: Students will learn how to use glass enamels to paint text onto glass surfaces. This technique allows for freehand expression and artistic customization.
Using Texture to Create Text: This technique involves utilizing various textures in the glass to create visually interesting and tactile text designs. Participants will learn how to incorporate texture into their work to enhance the text elements.
All necessary materials for the workshop will be provided to the students. It is recommended that students come with a basic understanding of kiln-formed glass techniques to make the most of this class. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained valuable skills in incorporating text into their fused glass artwork, allowing for greater creative expression and personalisation.
This class will run over 2 days 15th and 16th July
